Emory 03:53
Emory all alone in the moonlight keep me warm on this cold night. So we’ll both live again. Tell me, why were we released so we could go out East? To this dead end. Don’t put away your dirty books, leave your flags unfurled. We’ll get baked on the bus to Boston, when we get there we’ll change the world. Emory, did we really believe that? That we could achieve that? We were all so small. Lately, the thoughts have not been keeping, I have not been sleeping, not too well at all. Don’t put away your dirty books, leave your flags unfurled. We’ll get baked on the bus to Boston, when we get there we’ll change the world. Drawing comics, taking economics, smokin’ dope because no one’s gonna stop us, talk about the reasons we should run for office, right here, right now. Can of spray paint, charge of defacement, all the shows in all those basements, take me back I would not replace it. I’m here. I’m now. Emory, hey I think we could make it! At the very least shake it, and it’s worth a try. Emory, all alone in the moonlight. Everything will be alright, and I don’t know why. Don’t put away your dirty books, leave your flags unfurled. We’ll get baked on the bus to Boston, when we get there we’ll change the world.

If my tongue is tied, I blame it on you. If my sin is pride, then shame on you. Don’t make me cry. And don’t ask why. Don’t make me cry. My eyes are dry. Don’t go breaking my heart now, honey, cause you’ll find I’m full of surprises if you give me the time. If I start to dance, I’ve had too much wine. If I start to romance, then I am just fine. Don’t make me cry. My eyes are dry. Don’t make me cry. Better men have tried. Don’t go breaking my heart now, honey, cause you’ll find I’m full of surprises if you give me the time. It’s the kind of night that’s perfect, right amount of rough. I wish the band would play forever, just one song is not enough. If you say “good night,” then I’ll say “adieu.” If you say “alright,” I’ll say “I love you.” Don’t make me cry. My eyes are dry. Don’t make me cry. Better men have tried. Don’t go breaking my heart now, honey, cause you’ll find I’m full of surprises if you give me the time.

No 04:11
Peter Wall used to have a little gall. But the checks in the bank were a little too small. So Peter learned he would have to play ball - now he says what he means - nothing at all. And the kids say No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o Amelia Snow just does not know, That her friends went home a couple hours ago. Maybe they’d still be here if she didn’t throw a round of drinks around and tell them to go. And we all say No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o Lizzie Jean dreamed of being on screen, she decided to eat a little more green. That didn’t sit well, so that means she now subsists off of tangerines. Make it clear, now No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o Young Joe Chase was a regular ace, hitting home runs no matter the place. Coach said “Joe, you should take third base,” and Ol’ Joe Chase fell flat on his face. And the kids say No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o No, no-o-o-o

The Whistler 05:01
Between the stars reflecting in the puddles, On a crystal clear night, A man as thin as his shadow Wades through the moonlight. Loose cigarettes in his pocket bump into the deck of cards, He mumbles some memories, Though it’s a bit avant garde. He doesn’t feel out of style, when his suit doesn't match the house. He just wants to stay a-while. Whistlin’ his tune And it sounds like Between the bars, walking through the alleys, He never makes a sound. That golden-grey old man, In that golden-grey old town. Stumbling on some moonbeams, He walks through the smoke covered door. Doesn’t matter how much they hurt him, He’s always back for more. He doesn’t feel out of touch, When the house always gets the pot. He’s already said too much. So he whistles his tune. And it sounds like He doesn’t feel out of luck, Though he can never break even. He can stop someone from getting stuck If he whistles his tune. And it sounds like

Hey there stranger, it’s been a while since you called I missed you stranger, but that is a given after all You want me to stay You want me to stay right here for you You want me to pray You want me to pray to you-u You bitter critter Leave my heart alone You flatter me with thoughts of what we were Turn my heart to stone That’s funny, honey, you don’t sound so pretty when you’ve lost I’ll go now, cause anyhow, the pride is not worth the cost You want me to stay You want me to stay right here for you You want me to pray You want me to pray to you-u You bitter critter Leave my heart alone You flatter me with thoughts of what we were Turn my heart to stone

Marcia works in movies, won a few awards Got a famous husband, his name is George And now he’s working with the Stars He said “the world is truly ours” Marcia always promised, they’d work alone Wanted to keep separate, her job and home But George was in trouble, his work a mess Other folks would crack under the stress The story’s been told The characters old Marcia’s in the back room panning for gold The prospect’s looking grim The edges are rough Covered in fluff It feels too long, and not long enough Needs more than just a trim First she spent six straight weeks chiseling away At the scene where the hero goes and saves the day What had bored them all before Now could make an audience roar The story’s been told The characters old Marcia’s in the back room panning for gold The prospect’s looking grim The edges are rough Covered in fluff It feels too long, and not long enough Needs more than just a trim

I went into a burger joint, asked for a table for two. Yes I went into a budget joint, asked for a table for two. The man said “sir your dog cannot come in with you.” I said “that’s too bad cause If my dog’s not there, then neither am I If my dog’s not there, then neither am I. He’s man’s best friend, and I tell you this one’s mine.” And I took this dog of mine, took him with me to school. Yes this learned dog of mine, I took him with me to school. But like Mary’s little lamb, it was against the rules. If my dog’s not there, then neither am I If my dog’s not there, then neither am I. He’s man’s best friend, and I tell you this one’s mine. One day I died, went up to the pearly gates Had one question for old St. Peter up at the pearly gates. He said “your dog’s in doggy heaven.” I said “well, doggy heaven awaits.” You know the rules If my dog’s not there, then neither am I If my dog’s not there, then neither am I. He’s man’s best friend, and I tell you this one’s mine. Well I passed on to the other side, and what did I see? I said goodbye to St. Peter, and what did I see? I tell you that my dog was waiting there for me. If my dog’s not there, then neither am I If my dog’s not there, then neither am I. He’s man’s best friend, and I tell you this one’s mine

Better 04:25
You were concerned and you had said to me to try and get some sleep when I was up past three too many times, and I couldn’t ease my mind again. Your words became some kind of paper plane that I had thrown to try and take me from this pain- but it follows doesn’t it? And it will catch up with me when I land. Maybe I’ll realize if I gave you the upper hand How lovely It all could have been if I didn’t have to keep it all in. So badly I want someone to see me, but life has taught me well and I have learned better. You smiled and said “God couldn’t have better paired us” said you weren’t prepared, asked me if I was scared- I was terrified of how much I agreed with you. It didn’t take you long to break me down you took my heart from its locked and secured compound and I let you in, cuz I needed somewhere to begin How lovely It all could have been if I didn’t have to keep it all in. So badly I want someone to see me, but life has taught me well and I have learned better. You had no reason and no alibi when you went with that guy after you saw me cry but instead you said it all felt a-ok inside your head. And suddenly my plane began to crash, went down from the whiplash, left with an open gash- but I smiled anyway and wished you well on your path. The hours passed with every broken brick I re-stacked. How lovely It all could have been if I didn’t have to keep it all in. So badly I want someone to see me, but life has taught me well and I have learned better.

Old Habits 03:36
Thought about calling you up last night. Apologizing for the things that I didn’t do right. I swear I’ve grown, I swear I’ve changed, I’m not looking for things to be the same as they were But I’ve got to admit, no matter what I do, I’m dipping into old habits all the time I thought that i got rid of them but they’re definitely mine, I’m slipping into old habits everyday But if they never left, why do I think they’ve aged? Thought about finally moving on. Told myself that you’re not the one that got away. But if I carry on with someone else I’m scared that I’m, Gonna wind up making the same mistakes Yet again ‘Cause I’ve got to admit, no matter what I do, I’m dipping into old habits all the time I thought that i got rid of them but they’re definitely mine, I’m slipping into old habits everyday But if they never left, why do I think they’ve aged? Some say old habits never die, They make me who I am and better yet, they don’t ask why So instead of trying to be someone new, I’ve got to accept that no matter what I do, I’m dipping into old habits all the time I thought that i got rid of them but they’re definitely mine, I’m slipping into old habits everyday But if they never left, why do I think they’ve aged?

Nineteen 02:48
When I close my eyes I find I’m scared I’m gonna lose my mind. Hasn’t happened yet, but any day. Tell me you’ll tell the truth, do you think you’re bulletproof? Cause I don’t. And that’s okay. Were we ever really nineteen? Or did we just wake up from a dream? Take me back to the start, put your hand over your heart, and promise me you’ll stay right here. The memories don’t last for long, but nothing’s ever really gone. With two heads it’s all so clear Were we ever really nineteen? Or did we just wake up from a dream? I’m running, that’s what I’m here to do. So that they don’t turn me into glue. Maybe I’m at the age, where everything is a cage. I’m wondering what it’s about. I’ve been here many times before, and I’m not scared anymore. I gotta hope it all works out. Were we ever really nineteen? You’re telling me that wasn’t a dream? When I close my eyes I find I’m scared I’m gonna lose my mind. Hasn’t happened yet, but any day.

Mirror Man 08:54
You’re useless. You’re broken. You don’t know what you’ve just spoken. The words that came out, Came from somebody else’s mouth. Now you’re silent. You’re shaking. I can feel your spirit breaking. You can’t hide From your mind. You can’t hide So get high. Get high. You’re mangled. You’re shattered. Not like it really matters. When you can fill this void, With just a few opioids. Now don’t ruin it. Don’t think. Why do that when you can drink? Yeah you can drink but, You can’t hide From your mind. You can’t hide. So get high. Get high. You can’t hide From your mind. You can’t hide. So get high. Get high.
